We’ve put together a list of the most commonly asked questions about The Henley Private Aged Care so you can better understand what it is the makes us unique, the care we provide and how we deliver our exceptional levels of service.

What makes The Henley Private Aged Care different to a typical nursing home?

The Henley Private Aged Care redefines standards for aged care in Australia, with every suite and all shared living spaces designed with luxury and comfort in mind. Beautifully appointed suites feature welcoming and luxurious interiors and tasteful finishes that create a private and warm ambience, providing a lifestyle of personal touches and close relationships with staff along with views of the Broadwater.

And with only 12 private suites, you can rest assured that our highly trained staff have the time to develop genuine close relationships with each individual. Choice and control form an underlying principle in the way our care is delivered and is fundamental to living a good life at The Henley. From deciding when you wake up and go to bed, to choosing when and what you eat, you have true independence in all that you do. Every individual has the option of participating in our daily activities managed and supported by our trained staff.

The Henley seems very exclusive, is it affordable?

The Henley Private Aged Care is financially comparable to other aged care facilities, but in many cases, it is also more affordable. Having the ability to utilise your government funded home care package to pay for your care is a distinct advantage of living at The Henley over a nursing home. 

Can I utilise my current home care funding to pay for my care?

Yes. The Henley you are able to use your government funded home care packages to offset the costs of care. If you move into a nursing home, you forfeit all your government home care funding and accrued funds.

Will I be means tested?

Means testing is not compulsory, unlike a nursing home.

What are the exit fees and how are they calculated?

There are no exit fees at The Henley Private Aged Care. Like a nursing home, you can have the choice of paying an ingoing contribution which is fully refundable, a daily fee or a mixture of both options.

Are registered nurses employed on-site at all times?

At The Henley, we have registered nurses on site at all times 24 hours a day seven days a week to provide round-the-clock care to those with high care needs.

How many registered nurses are there on each shift, including nights, weekends and evenings?

The Henley has a minimum of one registered nurse and one personal care worker on duty, on-site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to take care of resident’s needs and provide clinical supervision.

What is the nurse to resident ratio for each shift?

We are known as having the highest nurse to client ratio in the industry with a minimum of one registered nurse and one personal carer (AIN) on-duty to provide cover for all of The Henley Private Aged Care’s 12 suites.

Is there a Director of Nursing?

All services at The Henley are exclusively supplied and managed by Luminise Care Solutions who are a team of nurses who manage and run all care services, financial services and training services within The Henley Private Aged Care.

Will medications be administered by a registered nurse?

At The Henley Private Aged Care, medications are administered by an on-site registered nurse or where appropriate, a personal care worker managed by a registered nurse.

Are there any plans to change the staffing arrangements in future?

No. Contractually we cannot reduce the number of staff at the Henley Private Aged Care and nor would we want to. Our high ratio of staff to residents is what makes us different to normal nursing homes.

Will residents be cared for by the same staff so they get to know them?

Everyone loves working at The Henley, so we have a lovely team of long-term staff that rarely even have sick days! Our staff all form excellent relationships with our residents and, being that there are only 12 suits the RN clinical care managers build solid relationships not only with the residents but also with their families and allied health services.

How will changes to my health be managed?

The residents at The Henley Private Aged Care have their own Clinical Care Manager who manages all aspects of their care and support services. With only 12 suites the RN clinical care manager forms solid relationships not only with their residents but also with their families and allied health services.  The level of clinical care management at The Henley Private Aged Care is far superior to anything or anyone else in the industry.

What minimum training do the AIN/care workers/care service employees have?

Luminise Care Solutions firmly believes that highly qualified and skilled care workers are a vital component in delivering high-quality care. That is why Luminise Care Solutions doubled the industries average budget to ensure staff receive effective, ongoing and tailored training options throughout their employment.

What ongoing training programs are offered to staff and what qualifications do they possess?

All personal care workers at The Henley Private Aged Care hold a minimum qualification of a Certificate III in Individual Support. All registered Nurses have current AHPRA registration and must have at least two years prior experience.

Yearly Minimum Mandatory Training for All Staff is undertaken in the following areas; Organisational Overview Culture, Model Overview Code of Conduct Employee Handbook, Fire and Emergency Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety, Rehabilitation and Return to Work, Customer Service Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying, Infection Control, Handling (People Handling) and Medication Assistance PR.

Additional training is also provided for First Aid (every three years for PCW’s), Fire Warden Training (yearly), Case Management and Care planning Training (twice a year for CCM’s), Dementia Training, Food Handling, Wound Care and Palliative Care
